Ask an AI panel of your audience before you spend traffic. Synthetic Research gives you feedback before you spend real traffic: a 500-persona AI panel, grounded in your site's real visitor behaviour, reviews your control and up to three variants and explains its preferences like real users would.
It's built for when you're not ready (or don't have the traffic) to run a live experiment yet. Create a mock test, have a panel of synthetic users review it, and use their feedback to design a better real A/B test before you launch it. Synthetic Research is complementary to A/B testing — it doesn't replace it.
To access it:
In the left sidebar, click Synthetic Research. This opens the Synthetic Research window, showing all past research runs, their status (Reviewed, Running, Draft, Archived), panel size, progress, and preferred variation.
Click New Research to start a new run. Give it a name, then set up your Designs:
Upload your Control (original) design and up to three Variation designs. Accepted formats are PNG, JPEG, or WebP, up to 4MB each. Since the panel only sees what you upload, a full-page screenshot works better than a cropped section.
Optionally, add the Page URL — this grounds the panel in the actual page and enables the draft-test button on your findings.
Continue to Audience:
Choose which persona group(s) the panel should be cast from (e.g., Marketing & Growth, Founders & Owners, Design & Creative). Mida suggests relevant groups based on your Business Context.
Under What the Panel Knows, choose whether to ground the panel in your business (personas read your Business Context, visitor mix, and on-page clicks, so findings reference your product by name) and/or match the panel to your real traffic (seats mirror your visitor mix — device split, acquisition channels, site type). Both are recommended by default.
Continue to Questions: every persona answers the same questions about each design, using only what their attention profile allowed them to see. You can select up to 6 questions. Four standard questions are selected by default:
"What is your first impression of this page?"
"What would you click on first, and why?"
"What confused you or put you off about this design?"
"What information is missing that you would need before acting?"
Two more are available to add: "How does this compare to what you expected?" and "Would you trust this page with your details or money? Why?" You can also add your own custom question.
On the Run step, choose how many synthetic users should review your designs (up to 200 per review, depending on your plan). Review the summary of your setup — designs, grounding, audience, panel type, and questions — then click Run the Panel.
While the panel runs, you can watch live progress: responses arrive one at a time, showing the current preference between designs and the latest quotes from individual personas. You're free to leave the page — the panel keeps running in the background.
Once the run finishes, click View Results to see the full findings, question-by-question synthesis, and recommended course of action. Use Share Report to send a read-only version to others.
