How to Create an On-Site Survey

Surveys are short on-site questions shown to real visitors. They tell you who your visitors are and what stops them, and you can attach one to any test to read the answers per variant alongside your metrics.

Surveys are short questions shown to real visitors on your site. They tell you who your visitors are and what stops them, which feeds your next test. Attach a survey to any test to read the answers per variant, right alongside your metrics. Surveys are available on every plan, including Free.

How they work:

  • Questions: Each survey has 1 to 10 questions. The first must be answered with a click. Question types are multiple choice, yes/no, NPS, rating scale, and open text.

  • Timing: Show a survey after a delay, on certain page views of a visit, or when your own code calls it.

  • Targeting: Limit a survey to certain pages and sample a share of visitors. You can also cap total or daily responses.

  • Paid plans: Add branching, and save an answer to the visitor so later tests can target people by it.

Plan notes: Anyone shown a survey counts once as a tracked user (MTU) for that month. On the Free plan, surveys carry a Mida badge.

To access it:

  1. In the left sidebar, click Surveys.

  2. View your surveys by status: Live, Paused, Draft, Ended, or Archived. Each survey shows when it appears, how many visitors saw it, how many answered, and its response rate. Click View Results to see the answers.

  3. Click New Survey in the top right.

  4. Name your survey (only your team sees the name). Describe what you want to learn and click Create with AI, or start from a template such as Who is visiting, Why they came, Net Promoter Score, or Blank survey.

  5. Click Next to set your Targeting, then click Save.
